Bronze Medallion

Bronze Medallion: A challenging course covering the four pillars of water rescue—judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Candidates build the assessment and decision-making abilities needed for safe action in, on, and around water. Prerequisite for Bronze Cross.

Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current).

Bronze Cross

Bronze Cross: Bridges lifesaving into lifeguarding, preparing candidates for assistant lifeguard duties. Builds on lifesaving skills while introducing active surveillance techniques, teamwork, and communication for aquatic emergencies. Prerequisite for National Lifeguard and leadership certifications.

Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion and Basic or Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED (need not be current)

National Lifeguard – Pool

National Lifeguard – Pool: Canada's professional lifeguard standard, certified by the Lifesaving Society. Develops the judgment, knowledge, skills, and fitness needed for effective safety supervision in pool environments, preparing candidates for responsible lifeguarding roles.

Prerequisite: Minimum 15 years of age, Bronze Cross and Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED (need not be current)

National Lifeguard Recertification - Pool

A half-day refresher covering physical and endurance skills and lifeguard situations. Recertification is required every 2 years to keep National Lifeguard current.

Basic First Aid + CPR-C & AED

Basic First Aid + CPR-C & AED: Builds awareness, knowledge, and skills in first aid principles and emergency injury treatment, covering workplace safety, scene assessment, CPR, choking, bleeding, heart attack/stroke response, and AED use. Includes CPR-C with AED certification (adult, child, infant). Recognized by Ontario's WSIB and suitable for aquatic and non-aquatic staff alike.

Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED

Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED: includes all aspects of Basic First Aid + CPR-C & AEDwith training for anaphylaxis, shock, fractures, spinal injuries, burns, seizures, diabetic emergencies, and more. Includes CPR-C with AED (adult, child, infant). WSIB-recognized and open to aquatic and non-aquatic staff.

Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED Recertification

Intermediate First Aid + CPR-C & AED Recertification: Available within 36 months of the full course. Refreshes core competencies—CPR-C with AED (adult, child, infant), scene management, and response to life threathening airway, breathing, circulation, bleeding, medical, and musculoskeletal emergencies.

Swim and Lifesaving Instructor

Swim and Lifesaving Instructor: Prepares candidates to teach and evaluate the Lifesaving Society's Swim for Life program, Canadian Swim Patrol Program, and Bronze Medals Awards Program — covering teaching methods, lesson planning, stroke correction techniques, and lifesaving skills.

Prerequisite: 15 years of age by the end of the course; Bronze Cross certification (need not be current).
